Blogs as Modern Art by Tony P
History of Blogs
Blogs were first introduced as weblogs that refer to a "server's log file." It was created when web logging hit the virtual market. Since its inception in the mid-1990s, web logging gradually saturated the virtual community making the Internet a viable source of greater information. Origin of the term "weblog" is uncertain. Many point to John Barger in December 1997 when he coined the term on his own blog. 2 years later, Peter Merholz broke "weblog" into a phrase "we blog", thus giving birth to the word "blog". Fortuitously, this play on words eventually took off, and "blog" as a short form not only became a household noun, but also as a verb. With the growth of popularity of weblogs, grew the popularity of the word "blog". Indeed, in March 2003, the Oxford English Dictionary included the terms "weblog," "weblogging" and "weblogger" in its dictionary. Merriam-Webster's Dictionary astonishingly declared "blog" as the word of the year in 2004. (Wikinews,2005) Starting from the mid-1990 the number of blogs at an incredible pace, at the end of 1999, the total number of blogs was estimated to be around fifty; five years later, the estimates range from 2.4 million to 4.1 million. The site Open Diary, while not using the term blog only until recently, had only two thousand diaries by 1999; by, September 2005, it exploded to 400, 000. The Perseus Development Corporation, a consulting firm that studies internet trends, estimates that by 2007 more than 10 million blogs will have been created. (Drezner and Farrell, "Web of Influence." 2004).
Blogs as a way of expressing yourself
People who are into blogging carefully choose their words to describe their feelings, emotions and experiences. Leo Tolstoy says in his essay "What is art?": "Art is a human activity consisting in this, that one man consciously, by means of certain external signs, hands on to others feelings he has lived through, and that other people are infected by these feelings and also experience them." In a way, bloggers are artists. They create a relationship with their readers, as professional writers and painters do. Blog is own space, their canvas, their book, where they can share their thoughts, feeling, ideas with others, where they can give and receive information. As with art, you can write anything you want in a blog, but there are thing needed to be taken into account: • You should make your blog interesting, informative so that it gives rise to readers' thoughts and feelings. • Create something beneficial for the readers. Give your blogs some quality content. • "Simplicity is the final achievement. After one has played a vast quantity of notes and more notes, it is simplicity that emerges as the crowning reward of art." Frederic Chopin. Avoid being complicated in your blog. The more complicated the blog is - the less it is art.
Blogs as Modern Art
So what is a blog? Is blogging art? Blog is persons own space in the Internet, his orchestra where he conducts his symphonies, his paper where he writes his essays, his canvas where he paints his masterpieces, in a word - his space where he creates. What is the purpose of the Artist? To create, to communicate the concepts of morality. Unfortunately not every blog can be categorized as art. Blogs must be comprehensible and understandable. If any unintelligible blog or as any incomprehensible expression of though is to be called "art", then the meaning of "art" will be lost. Blogs must have the form and content which is are unity with the feeling and ideas which they represents. Blogs that shallow, unsophisticated, awkward, artificial, exaggerated, ostentatious, or banal are not art. Tolstoy suggests that professionalism kills art; it causes the art to become false and insincere. As long as blogs are kept original, personal and sincere they can be described as art, modern art. "Generally art is a (product of) human activity, made with the intention of stimulating the human senses as well as the human mind; by transmitting emotions and/or ideas"(Wikipedia, 2008). Blog is a great way to implement this activity online. All in all, blogs are modern art, as long as you keep them personal, original, honest and smart. Blogs are your web space and you have all the tools and ideas to create your own masterpiece!

SEO Advice - Writing Useful Articles That Readers Will Love by Neil Ebsworth
I was a little disappointed by Matts article as it addressed the need to produce original article content by focussing on the niches the article should be aimed at rather than addressing the topic that I thought would be of more importance, namely the quality of content production. The last third of the article was also so stuffed with keywords starting with the keyword SEO that I doubt it would have passed most article submission services requirements that filter out articles that stuff keywords in for the sake of search engine placement...shame on you Matt, I really wouldn't have thought it necessay for you to keyword stuff!
The main objective when it comes to article marketing is the production of quality new content on subjects on or related to, your websites purpose. The aim, if you then distrubute the article through article directories, is to have your article reproduced by other quality sites in your field, effectively gaining reputation, and ultimately a link back to your site from the publishing website which an interested reader may use to discover more about the given subject.
What article writing is not about is getting a thousand article directory links. Whilst you will not be penalised for publishing in a thousand directories, the main benefit of a wide distribution is mainly for the purpose of gaining exposure for your article so that webmasters looking for high quality content will find your article. As with most things internet related, exposure is king, so article distribution services have there place but if you expect an instant SERPs boost from just the links back from the directories themselves, you will find that only a portion of the reproduced copies of your articles will be taken into account. If however your article is subsequently reproduced by a website in your niche that has a good reputation, ( I think Page rank is still considered a measure of value by most people) then your website will gain points for each article copy found on each valued site.
I recently had a discussion on a forum about quality over quantity. The premise of my opponent was, that you can get articles written for you these days for about $5 a time for a 500 word piece. So why should he pay my charges that were, ( and still are) considerably higher. I tried to explain through that well known saying, that, as with most things in life, " You get what you pay for" and that whilst his $5 articles may well be written in perfectly good English and be focussed on the subject in hand, he would find that they failed to meet the one criterea that is most paramount when publishing the content. They had nothing to say.
By this I mean that they were ultimately generic using terms and phrases around the issue of the subject matter, but with no comment or opinion on it. For $5 I would not expect any less. If my premise is correct though, that article content should engage the audience first and foremost, these generic unique pieces are destined to sit at the back of the article directory bus, never to be reproduced or read and therefore ultimately of no value.
Writing good quality copy is a professional skill and one that should not be confused with a fifth grade comprehension exercise. If you want your article and therefore your website to be taken seriously, you should treat your article marketing with the respect that you give to your own reading material. Are you a Times reader or a Sun reader. More importantly, what sort of readers are the people you are ultimately trying to attract to your site?
Finally coming back to the title of this article. I copied the title for the article from Matt Cutts article of the same name for one of the reasons that Matt gave in his piece. he said "any time you look for an answer or some information and can't find it, that should strike you as an opportunity."
As I felt he had failed to address the more important issue in his article I reproduced the title so that searchers may discover the additional information from this piece which hopefully will sit close enough to Matts article in the Search Engine rankings, filling the void of information that Matt so kindly left open, and sending you to my site for more information...or better still..a commission!

An Introduction To Email Marketing by Uchenna Ani-Okoye
I once ordered some goods online via an online store and during the process I gave the company the authority to keep in touch with me via email. Now what they decided to do with my email was quite ingenious, every week since I purchased that product they have sent me an email illustrating special offers available only for people who shop on their web store.
As a result, I have spent quite a lot of money with them. I would not have spent half as much as I did if they didn't have an effective marketing campaign in place. The best thing about email marketing is the ability to reach your target audience with almost no costs involved.
So...how can you use emailing marketing for your business? It's not as difficult as it seems and the results can be simply mind-boggling.
Create an Opt in List
Ask your clients for permission to send them frequent emails. It's very important that you only send out emails to clients that make the agreement and make sure you include somewhere in your email, an easy way to unsubscribe from the mailing list. Use a new email address specifically for your email marketing campaign. Do not use your business email address just in case some of your clients mark your emails as spam.
Try to offer something free of charge to people that grant you permission to send emails to them. This doesn't have to be something of great value. This could be something like a free e-book or internet course to the visitors of your website that decide to opt into your mailing list.
Try and run some competitions and make sure the entry form clearly asks for the clients email address along with an opt-out box for people who decide they do not want to receive regular offers and other such material.
You can purchase email lists from disputable companies that have taken the time to make sure all subscribers have consented to receiving special offers and other such marketing material. This can prove to be a pretty cost effective method of building a huge list. It's very important where you purchase your list as you only want to target clients related to the service and/or product that you supply.
If you have an online store, add a link that offers a free product or special deal for customers that subscribe to your mailing list. Make sure you add exclusivity, so that the client feels as though he/she is receiving something of great value.
Persuade your clients to buy
The more you personalize the emails you send out, the better. You have a much higher chance of your clients opening the emails if their name is in the subject header.
Do not give up after your first email send out, keep plugging at it. If you're lucky, some people may decide to purchase something off you right away, but most clients will not purchase anything from you until they've received several emails from you. If you get a response rate of one percent then you are doing extremely well.
The frequency in which you send out emails can greatly affect your campaign. You do not want to send out emails too frequently as you will end up annoying your clients. On the other hand if you leave large intervals between emails you could end up putting off your clients.

Targeted Website Traffic - Keyword Driven Marketing by Scott Million
Here are several tips to getting targeted website traffic and boost your site visits.
The first method of getting targeted website traffic is to write keyword targeted articles, just like the one I'm writing here. You'll notice that the phrase "targeted website traffic" appears throughout this article 2-4% of the time.
When writing an article aimed at getting traffic for you website, make sure that the article provides value to your readers. Since you probably searched for "targeted website traffic" to get here then this article should provide value speaking to that keyword phrase.
In order to find these keyword targeted phrases you'll need to use a free keyword suggestion tool like the one Word Tracker offers. Simply type "free keyword research" in Google and it will be the first link on the list.
Start by typing in a broad search term like "traffic" or "football" and see what longer phrases show up. For this article, I simply went to WordTracker's free keyword research tool and typed in "traffic" and then selected several keywords that had 50 or more searches per day and less than 1,000,000 results in Google.
Sound like work? Sure! It's going to take a lot of time for you to get targeted website traffic, no doubt about it; however there's a shortcut you may find useful.
Once your website has some keyword targeted articles, then you're going to want to build links to that specific page so that Google thinks it has a lot of relevancy. To do this, you can try posting on blogs and online forums, and leave a link pointing back to your site.
That can work pretty well if you have a lot of time, but you're probably not going to get very good backlinks, especially since most blogs with high page rank add a "no follow" tag to their links.
So, you'll need to think outside of the box...hmmm...have you ever noticed how software sites always have good Page Rank? What if we submitted software to these sites that we could create in minutes and FORCE them to point back to our site?
That would be pretty cool, huh? But it sounds like a lot of work to create software and then submit it to hundreds of websites.
Nope! You can get over 100 backlinks from Page Rank 5, 6, and 7 sites in just 30 minutes of work. Really!
To conclude, in order to get targeted website traffic we have to write keyword targeted articles and start creating lots of backlinks (links pointing to your site.)

The Many Kinds Of Marketing Using The Internet by Mikael Andersohn
The Internet is a very useful tool for communications, as well as business. Business is all about communication, after all. You need to communicate in order to establish contacts. You need to communicate with your customers in order to make them aware of your product offerings.
Such customer-seller communication is called marketing. Marketing involves sending messages to the targeted audience of a business, with the aim to inform them about a certain product that is up for sale. Marketing utilizes various techniques, either offline or online.
The Internet has given marketers an avenue to easily and quick reach their targeted audiences because of its power to link people past several barriers like distance, language, etc. Because of this, marketers have developed or adopted existing marketing techniques to adjust to the Web.
Effective communication is not the only advantage that online marketing offers. Internet marketing is also relatively inexpensive compared to traditional marketing methods.
There are many kinds of online marketing techniques, and include the well-known viral marketing and pay per click marketing techniques. For all their advantages, all these techniques require careful planning and even careful execution in order to harness their power for your business' advantage.
Viral Marketing
Viral marketing has been around ever since the Internet was first introduced. First it involved emails and now, with the Web 2.0 phenomenon, viral marketing has branched out to social networking websites.
So what is viral marketing?
Viral marketing is the technique which takes advantage of the "word of mouth" phenomenon in its campaigns. So, basically, it relies on users passing news about their product offerings in order to gather traffic and potential customers. Because it needs positive opinion to gain attention, a telemarketer needs to tailor its information to make it appealing to Internet users and gain conversions or have visitors turn into customers.
One of the best examples of an effective viral marketing campaign is Hotmail. In the beginning of its inception, Hotmail inserted a link to the bottom of every email sent by its users. In a sense, although they did not intend it, these users were telling the world about Hotmail, and inviting others to sign up for a free account with the service.
Hotmail is now one of the biggest free web-based email providers, and one of the longest running alongside Yahoo! Mail and a few others.
Pay per Click Marketing
Pay per click is another mode of marketing using Internet that has given promising results back to businessmen.
PPC makes use of link advertisements that appear alongside search engine results. These ads are posted by businessmen, who pay for every instance that a user clicks on it and is redirected to the enterprise's website. They are tagged by keywords, which determine when these ads should appear. Thus, they show up when a user makes a search for these keywords and other related terms.
Compared to viral marketing, PPC offers marketers a flexible and affordable way of reaching out to their targeted audienc0es. Because they appear on search engine results, marketers are also assured that only those who are interested in their products see and click their ads.

The Modern Age Of Graphic Design by Tuan Hoang
The Modern Age Of Graphic Design by Tuan Hoang
The modern era goes by the packaging of ideas that are communicated and Graphic designing is pertinent and prominent, in these times. Graphic designing is one of the areas that encompasses all the aspects of aesthetics, imagination and craft. Graphic designing has evolved from the paintings in the caves of Lascaux to online designing and printing. Graphic designing comprises facets like typography, page layout and visual arts. Graphic designing represents the process and product of creating something for the purpose of communicating.
First glimpses of graphic designing were sighted in the paintings that were found in the caves of Lascaux around 14000 BC. The Book of Kells and the ornate Gospels of the Christian Bible are all vivid examples of graphic designing in the olden times. In the modern era, Herbert Bayer, Laszlo Moholy-Nagy and El Lissitzky are considered the fathers of graphic design. They promoted various stylistic devices and techniques widely adhered to in the twentieth century. The German Bahaus School of design that was established in the year 1937, in America, was pivotal in propagating modern architecture and designs.
Graphic designing is inclusive of aspects like illustrations, types, shapes, colours, textures and even photos. Websites, logos, business cards, advertisments, billboards, posters, magazine layouts, etc, are all the products of the process, graphic designing. Graphic designs communicate a text or and idea effectively, intricately and creatively through visuals. Multimedia designs or interactive designs or WYSIWYG interfaces used in the computer are the modern versions of technology used to produce graphic designs. Dissemination of knowledge is the key objective of graphic designs. Graphic designs are essential in administration, advertising, education, journalism and the internet.
The creative mind of a human is the greatest requirement in graphic designing. The human mind taps its faculty of imagination to render a graphic to convey a text or an idea. The advent of desktop publishing and the arrival of graphic art software applications created a revolution in the field of graphic designing. Computer is used as both business tool and design tool in today’s computer era. With the aid of graphics software, a person can forge novel illustrations, device new layouts, work on photos, etc. Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Flash and Dreamweaver are used for working on photos, creating illustrations, formulate new layouts, creating interactive websites and for website development respectively by graphic designers.
To be a graphic designer, one has to possess the capability of embodying one’s imagination to the optimum level. A sound knowledge of the cutting edge technologies utilized to enhance the graphic designs sets a new designer in a league of his own. Short terms courses and reading books on graphic designs reinforces one’s knowledge on the subject. For an upcoming graphic designer, Books like Graphic Artists Guild Handbook: Pricing and Ethical Guidelines , The Little Know-It-All: Comon Sense for Designers , etc give an insight into graphic designing. For a novice in the field of graphic design, a portfolio in the form of a website, PDF document or a portfolio with printed samples of your work may speak volumes about his or her creativity to a potential employer.
If packaged in a unique manner, an idea is received hands down by anybody in the modern consumer market and that stands a talented graphic designer in good stead. Since the work is creatively satisfying and allows the designers to tap the potential of the avant-garde technology in the field, the career is enormously exciting.

Three Blogging Tips by Peter Nisbet
Three Blogging Tips by Peter Nisbet
This article is not intended to provide you with a host of blogging tips, but simply to guide those of you who have either just started or have been blogging for a while but have some bad habits.
Bad blogging habits are easy to get into, and one of the worst is to leave your 'About' page unchanged. You know the page: it is provided by Wordpress as standard and a whole host of bloggers leave it unchanged. Why they do this is known only to them, because this is the first page that a large number of first-time visitors to a blog check out, and the reason why many of them leave without looking further.
All you have to do is to say a little about yourself, who you are, and what your blog is about, why you feel qualified to write a blog about this topic and how you can be contacted. If your blog covers a particular niche, rather than being simply a log of personal comments, then your potential readers will want to know why they should believe what you say by reading your credentials on the subject.
There is nothing wrong with having a personal blog about your personal thoughts on things, but if you are presenting yourself as a form of expert on a specific topic, then you will have to persuade readers that you have a right to do so. You should use your 'About' page to do that.
Another tip you should take is to claim your blog with Technorati. This registers it as yours with Technorati, and you can get a whole load more visitors. Since joining Technorati most of my blogs' traffic rocketed. It takes a while for new blogs to get going, but it's a lot easier if you make use of sites such as Technorati. The same is true of most of the social bookmarking sites if traffic is important to you. If you are using a blog to promote a product, then this is essential.
If you have a website then don't get lazy and be content to run your blog from a hosting site such as wordpress.com. It is better to download the software from wordpress.org, and host your own blog. You have much more control over the look and feel of it, and can use any of the thousands of plugins that are available online. You can also use any template you want, or even design your own. That way you get total customization of your blog pages, and can make it more distinctive than the majority hosted on Wordpress or Blogger's site. If you have tried and had problems downloading and installing it then send me an email. If needed I can take you through it online, or by telephone.
These are the two main tips that any blogger should take if they intend to blog seriously. However, was I to provide the third most important tip for anybody interested in blogging, then it would be to monetize your blog. Don't blog for nothing. If your blog concerns a specific niche subject you can likely throw up one or two affiliate programs on your sidebar so that they appear with your new posts. A three column blog is useful for this, since your regular sidebar will generally be full of permanent links.
If you monetize using Adsense, a three column layout is even more essential, since you will want a vertical block down one of the columns, in addition to some at the bottom and the middle. A good Adsense layout would be a column to the left or right of the main text column containing a vertical ad unit, a horizontal link unit at the bottom of the blog, and also a horizontal ad unit at the bottom of the latest post. You could also include a search box at the top or bottom of your main sidebar that allows a search either on Google, from which you get income, or on your blog.
You could also include one of your websites as a second search option, providing three altogether. The income might not be a lot, but most blogs with a few hundred visitors a day should be able to make from $10 to $20 daily minimum, depending on the niche. All you need are a few blogs like that.
These are my three main blogging tips. Yours would likely be different, since blogging is a very personal thing, but if you take these three on board you will likely find that you will get more visitors, have more fun and also be able to put a bit put aside for the holidays or that unexpected bill that always comes at the wrong time.

Where To Learn About Running An Internet Home Business by Pasi Kaarakainen
Where To Learn About Running An Internet Home Business by Pasi Kaarakainen
Running an Internet business is not hard to do. It does take some skills and some time for you to learn how to do it, however. Let's take a look at some places where you can receive training on running an Internet home business.
Having a previous business background is not necessarily helpful when it comes to running an Internet business. An Internet business requires learning basic skills that you can use online. Usually this means starting a marketing campaign that you can use to get visitors and make more sales.
There is several places that you can receive training on how to run an international business. Certainly the Internet itself offers a never-ending supply of training that can be helpful. If you don't be trying new things and look at the success of people who are already running Internet marketing businesses.
It is important that you don't believe everything you read. If you're familiar with the phrase, "talk the talk and walk the walk", then you understand why it is important that you only study people who actually do what they say rather than people who just teach theory.
Because things change so rapidly on the Internet it isa important that you keep up to date is on what is going on. This can be true, if you purchase an e-book, or an Internet marketing training course. It's important that you only study what is going on in the world of Internet marketing today, and not something that was written four or five years ago.
One place where this is valid is with blogging. It would be a good idea to subscribe to an RSS feed of successful Internet marketers. Then you can be kept up-to-date on what they are doing to be successful and maybe come up with ideas on running your own internet home business.
Ezines are another area where you can receive excellent free information. Many Internet marketers who work at home, also publish their own newsletter on the internet. In that they will offer tips and ideas on what is working in a world of Internet marketing. This is a great place to learn about running your own business, and someday you may want to publish your own ezine too!
In summary, it is in port in to watch the source of your information when you begin learning about running a Internet home business. The Internet is a tremendous source of information, but only if the information you're reading is credible.

Best Internet Marketing: 4 Keys to Internet Marketing by Roy Sutanto
Internet marketing refers to various online techniques and strategies that online businessmen are using in order to promote their products and services over the internet. Below are the 4 keys that will help you out to succeed in internet marketing:
a. Keywords. One of the best ways to generate traffic and exposure for your website is through the use of relevant keywords on your content and domain name. This will make it easier for your target market to find your products and services whenever they use search engines to find these information. When search engines show you websites among the top 10 on search result page, you increase the chances of your website being clicked by your target market that can result to more traffic and thus, more profit.
b. Blogging. Experts agree that this is one of the best internet marketing tools these days. Through web log, you can talk about the products and services that you offering, highlighting their features and benefits they can give you potential clients. You can also generate traffic through your blog by embedding your main websites URL on your posts that online users can click on should they need more information about your products.
c. PPC advertising. Contrary to popular belief, PPC advertising is a cost-effective tool in marketing your products and services. You will only get charged each time an interested visitor click your ads. It guarantees great return of investment and exposure to your offerings.

Why You Need Professional SEO Services? by Archie Glikakis
Why You Need Professional SEO Services? by Archie Glikakis
Search Engine Optimization is a service exercised by professionals in the field of Internet Marketing. Business and E-commerce owners all over, build websites in hopes to participate in the riches that the internet has to offer. Their expectations are high, and when all is said and done revenues have not increased but expenses have. This is the most common outcome for all who participate.
But it does not have to be that way. Like everything in life hard work and investment are required to be successful on the net. Visitors will not flock to your website just because you put one online. This is where you need to employ the services of professionals.
Search Engine Optimization
So what is SEO? SEO is simply the process of attracting visitors to your website. Let's face facts. You need to be found. The internet has only one way of accomplishing that. Every internet user we know goes online and navigates their web browser to a porthole site. The chances are that the first page a users goes to is a site that offers them searching capabilities, e-mail services, news highlights, weather or sports. The most publicized choices are Yahoo, MSN, Google, CNN News, ESPN sports center, ect.
Now, buying ad space on these portholes has really proven to be futile and extremely expensive. This is not after all television. This is the internet, where a whole new breed of consumers, lurk. These consumers are a little more educated and a lot more fickle. They are also very aware that they have choices.
Website Positioning
Internet users have only one tool available to them when they need to find something. That tool is the internet's search function. If you are reading this then you know exactly what I'm talking about. Users enter their query in a search field press enter and like magic their page is transformed into a list of possible results to their query. This page is called a SERP. (Search Engine Results Page) A quick glance in the uppermost corner of the page will reveal just how many pages contain the user's query words commonly know as Keywords or Keyword phrases, and to most that figure would astound them. In some cases the figure could climb to over a million pages.
Do users check out all the pages? Absolutely not! Statistics show that internet users seldom surf past the first few pages, seldom past the third page, but sometimes through to page five. So it is pretty clear that you as a business or E-commerce owner need to be found on one of those five SERPs. That is website positioning.
Page Ranking
Now the process of getting listed on one of the first five pages involves a lot of work. This work needs to be left to the professionals who know what they are doing, because it is rather complicated. As an individual you can read articles and get informed on what to do and not do but don't be fooled, SEO Experts won't give you every piece of information you seek. They will outline the basics maybe let you in on a trick or two but they won't tell you the most important factors. One of which is patients.
SEO experts stay in touch with what's going on in the industry. They spend countless of hours looking over stats and performing queries. They analyze data and look for ways to improve their clients' positioning. They make recommendations and most times change the site's layout completely. They do this in order to make the site "Search Engine Friendly". They aim to abide by the criteria required by each individual search engine. This criterion is used in a very complicated algorithm designed by the search engine in order to assign each site a page ranking. In other words how close are this site's contents to the relevancy of the user's query?
Internet Traffic
The job of a SEO specialist is to configure your site to the specifications of the search engines. If they do it right, good rankings will come and that in turn will lead to a good web position and of course internet traffic. But a SEO Expert's job doesn't just end there. The true experts, the real professionals, will also advise you on how to maximize the experience of each visitor. The goal after all is to get something from them. Internet traffic is a good thing but if they simply come and go without stopping to look around then even the best SEO will prove worthless.
Internet Marketing
The flaw is this. Recently, a whole new breed of SEO experts has emerged. They are NOT internet marketing Guru's but simply small firms who think they know what they are doing and want to participate in what they think is an easy and lucrative business. Well I have news for them. It is neither easy nor that lucrative. It is very time consuming, very demanding and stressful. Clients pay for results and results means dollars. Oh it is nice to be ranked first on all the major search engines and to have heaps of traffic pouring into your site but if your bottom line remains negative, what then?
The SEO experts, the real ones, put together a plan for you to harness this traffic. Whether the goal is to make a sale or get an e-mail address, measurement of a successful SEO service is dependent on the results, not the rankings. This is what makes us, the real professionals, different from the others. Internet marketing starts with good SEO but ends with solid results. Your SEO Company should offer you that service. And believe me you can't buy it in a box for $29.95.

Website Traffic And Search Engine Optimization: Links and Linking by Donovan Baldwin
Website Traffic And Search Engine Optimization: Links and Linking by Donovan Baldwin
This article, as the name implies, deals with search engine optimization in general, and links in particular. In previous articles, I have dealt with related search engine optimization topics such as choosing the right domain name for your website and creating the title, meta tags, and content for your website.
This article is not intended to be a definitive work on search engine optimization, particularly as many search engines keep changing the rules. It, and previous articles are intended, however to give the internet marketing beginner some insight into the subject.
Search engine optimization is not magic, and it does tend to incorporate a few basic tenets. When followed, these steps, methods, or actions CAN increase the visibility and ranking of a website in a search engine's returns. It is popularly, and fairly accurately, stated that most people will pick a site from those listed on the first page of a search's results. However, that is not the final spot that everyone picks from, nor is every site in exact competition with yours nor attractive to search engines for the same reasons, or keywords, or content as yours.
In most cases, when someone requests a search on a word or phrase, one of the first acts of many search engines will be to take a look at the titles of the websites it has indexed and see if anything seems to match. It will then scan the first few lines of text on the page to see if that search term is there, and how often it appears. It cannot be stated that every search engine follows this exact pattern, and, even if they do, most tend to then refine the initial results by viewing other data.
In fact, one reason that search engine optimization IS more an art than a science is due to the variables looked at by each search engine and how they are weighted by that site. It is possible to optimize a site for one search engine and injure its ranking in another!
One way that many search engines can be induced to raise the ranking or placement of a site is accomplished thru linking. When speaking of "linking" most people are going to be speaking of external links leading to the site from other websites. I am going to include some internal linking discussion, so we will be covering:
1. External Links
2. Internal Links
3. Sitemaps
LINKS FROM OTHER SITES:
As in many other considerations, the quality of the links leading to your site may be of more importance than the quantity of links. It should also be a consideration that sites that you try to have link to your site be relevant as a willy-nilly bundle of sites can actually lower your ranking in some search engines.
One linking tactic is to find the front runners in searches on keywords and subjects relevant to your site. Then, you would communicate with the site owners or webmasters in hopes of getting them to link to your site. In some cases, a reciprocal link may be requested, but, despite some accounts to the negative, having a link from a valuable site will increase the value of your site, even with the reciprocal link.
Why would someone link to YOUR site? Hopefully, your site is relevant and of a quality that would encourage the attentions of a webmaster hoping to elevate the value of his or her site by providing quality information to their visitors. If you are a fishing guide, the website of a rod and reel manufacturer may want to include a link to your site, for example.
To take this a step further, if the first sites you see are valuable, take a look at the sites that link to them! It is a good chance that THEY help contribute to the rank of the first sites you saw, and would therefore possibly be of importance to you.
LINKS WITHIN YOUR SITE:
While not normally included in discussions of search engine optimization, the internal links of your site can be of importance. Once you have a visitor to your site, providing them with an easy means of navigation can encourage them to stay and wander around. All the search engine optimization in the world won't do much good if they leave and go elsewhere after reading one or two sentences.
However, internal linking can be an important part of search engine optimization, particularly when you realize that Google and some other search engines treat each page of your site separately. There seems to be some indication that links from other pages within your site can be used as part of the evaluation process of the search engine. Additionally, providing a complete listing of site pages in a logical manner makes it easier for search engine spiders to find, crawl, and index all the pages of your site. This thought brings us to...
SITEMAPS:
In its simplest form, a sitemap is a logically (thank you Mr. Spock) designed, er well...map...of the pages of the site. It is usually a page in itself, provides links to, and sometimes descriptions or titles of, the pages within the site. Once the search engine has found this page, it is a piece of cake for it to crawl and index every page on your site. If you have been doing SEO to all your pages, you have just raised an eyebrow or two on the search engine spider.
COMMENTS:
In all I have learned or encountered in the areas of search engines and search engine optimization, two points seem to come through: make sure everything you do adds quality and value to your site, and don't count on what worked yesterday to work today. Search engines are continually evolving to meet the needs of THEIR customers while providing quality service and they expect the same from you.

Social Networking to Generate Traffic? by DennisMc
Social Networking to Generate Traffic? by DennisMc
Website traffic is the most fundamental component to internet marketing. You can have the greatest website in the world with the best deals and services offered on it. But unless you can get people to that site, you are wasting your time.
There are several ways to generate traffic for a website. These days web 2.0 is seen as a major tool for online marketers to guarantee optimal traffic generation.
Social networking websites are those that allow individuals or entities, sharing a common interest, the opportunity to stay connected and meet other people with similar interest. It is a process that involves networking, interacting, building friends and relationships and obviously promoting anything online. Social networking sites can be classified as blogs, bookmarking sites, communities, etc.
The majority of the social networking sites are public. It means that they allow anyone to join. Organizations, including business companies, also have access to private social networking applications, known as Enterprise Relationship Management. These companies install such applications on their own servers and allow employees to share their networks of contacts and relationships to outside people and companies.
Social networking offers you some fantastic means of generating a considerable amount of traffic to your website.
- Blogs: Posting comments on various blog sites is a sure way to generate traffic provided you give the link at the end of your comment. There are blogs on almost every imaginable topic, from business and marketing to archaeology and movies. Select a blog site suitable to your topic, submit a relevant article with the best content. Write a great authoritative article and submit it to the top article directories. Remember, the way out to securing traffic this way is in your "about the author" box. Don't forget to link back to your site and choose good anchor tags.
- Forums: Many forums permit signature links. This ensures that you not only get a back link with your signature but also gain myriad exposure as your signature shows up every time you make a post in the forum.
- Social Bookmarking: Social bookmarking sites have the ability to direct hundreds or thousands of targeted visitors to your site within a very short time. Thousands of people bookmark their desired pages. Other users in the network then refer those pages to more users. Therefore the number of links grows and brings in more traffic.
- Blog Directories: Regularly visit blogs that you like, or those having similar topics as of yours, by subscribing to them through a feed reader. Check 'your favorites' no less than once a week, and post comments on any interesting new posts you find there. You can find active, popular blogs on just about any topic in some of the major blog directories.
- Videos & Pictures: Make use of videos and pictures to attract traffic from the social networking sites. Trade links wirh oteher sites to gain backlinks. Update your postings in social networking sites from time to time with fresh videos and pictures.

Internet Marketing: Discover The Deadly Sins To Avoid When Getting Back Links by Wyatt Lee
Getting back links is one of the most important Internet marketing strategy, because the search engines will factor in link popularity as one of the ranking criteria when it comes to the search results.
This technique sounds quite straight-forward, isn't it? Just keep getting back links - any kind of back links - to your site, and hope for the best. Unfortunately, it is not as easy as it looks, because the search engines have red-flagged some of the linking strategies used by some Internet marketing professionals.
In this article, I will share with you some of the deadly sins that you must avoid when you are getting back links to your site, so as to prevent the search engines from waving the red flag at you.
1. Avoid hosting your links in a separate links page
It sounds like a good idea to host your links in a separate web page, but you are strongly advised not to do that. The reason is because links that are hosted in a links page tend to be less valuable than contextual relevant links found in the body of a content page. So it is better for you to have your back link in the content itself, hyperlinked with an anchor text containing your main keywords.
2. Avoid getting all your back links only from high-ranking pages
You may be a little surprised, but it is not advisable for you to get all your back links only from high-ranking pages, no matter how tempting it may be. Many Internet marketing professionals like to go all out to get back links from websites with PR 5 and above. But by doing so, the search engines will be thinking that all these links are being bought.
The solution to this problem is to get your back links from a variety of websites with different page ranks.
3. Avoid links that carry the same description.
The search engines do not like links that carry the same description. The solution is the same as above: variation is the key here. Make sure that when you leave your links, you should try to at least change the descriptions attached to them. In this way, you are effectively telling the search engines that it is the webmasters themselves who chose to display your links on their web pages.
4. The problems with reciprocal linking
Generally, reciprocal links are okay. But then if there is too much of the same, the search engines will panellise you, and you would have to prepare for a lower page rank for your site.
Also, reciprocal linking is prone to abuse. Webmasters can merely collude to link with one another, or worse, a webmaster can create multiple websites that he'll link together, instead of relying on the strength of the content to garner the much needed back links.
5. Avoid getting too many back links for a start
When you have just built your website, naturally you would want your site to achieve some sort of success in the shortest possible time. But if your young website suddenly gets thousands of back links within a short period of time, then the search engines will be coming out to get you. They will interpret this as something fishy going on, and raise the red flag at your site.
They may even remove your site from their listings, because your website will be seen as having participated in unfavourable practices such as link farms to amass such a huge number of links. The key here is to control the growth of back links to your site so that you stay under the radar of the search engines. For example, if you are submitting articles to promote your site, then make sure that you limit yourself to just 2 submissions per week, so that the growth pattern of your back links will look more natural.
What I have shared with you here are examples that are derived from experiences and mistakes made by Internet marketing experts, who had learned them the hard way. Now, it is your turn to learn from their experience, so that you can succeed in this important Internet marketing strategy.

Ideas for Web Design by John Parker
Ideas for Web Design by John Parker
Whenever a web designer gets a web design project, he or she will require taking a step back and going through the research process in order to complete the job. The research process is a tedious process, it determines how well, and successful will the result of your web design. Ideas for web design will share with you how to go through that research process smoothly and obtain results. One fine day, you received a call from some client and he requests you to design a website for his company. Over the phone, he briefly tells you what his company is about and asks about the prices, you then fixed an appointment with him for discussion. You will probably get excited about it and starts to get more details of the company by checking them on Google, and thinks about some prelim ideas for the website. At this stage, your research process has already started.
RETREIVING THE DETAILS: After meeting up with the client, you get a lot of details that will assist you in your design process. This detail applies even when you are designing a personal website. 1. Nature of the Company 2. Client Preferences (Example websites?) 3. Target Audiences (kids? Young adults? Everyone in the world?) 4. Platform (Flash? Html? Php? Asp? ) By organizing these details, you get a bigger picture of: 1. What are you going to design? 2. What style of design are you approaching? 3. Whom you should design for? 4. How will your design work? 5. How will your design please both the audiences and the client in order to be successful?
DETERMINING THE STYLE: With the information you have on hand, its time to determine the style. For a start, you should base on the client's description of his company, his nature of the company to give a rough gauge on the design style. Examples below: Example 1: Web Hosting business >> High tech web design, sleek and professional Web Design Example 2: Dolls and Toys business >> Kiddy, Girly, Colorful, Fun design
COLOR THEMES: Having a good and suitable color theme on your web design will give users a pleasing experience while surfing through the web site you designed. One of the important techniques is to get a color chart from your local art store or use some color chooser tools to aid in your color selection. Your color theme will affect the mood and feel you want to create. Colors also have their own meanings. For example, white is clean, blue is cool and corporate, having a white and blue color theme gives you a clean and corporate web design. Orange and yellow are warm and friendly colors, Grey is cool, combining a Orange-Grey theme will give you a friendly and fun mood. Dark colors are also popular among many, because they easily matched other bright colors. A common match is using a black background and light colored text as a combination. There are thousands and one meaning to choose your color theme. Whether your color theme turns out successful depends heavily on the first step "Determining the style" of your website.
PHOTOS & GRAPHICS: After getting the colors done, its time to think about the graphics and images. As a graphic says a thousand words, it is good to think about how you want to approach this portion. Here are some recommendations you can try: 1. Stock photos - Some are free, some requires you to pay a certain amount before providing you with high resolutions image. If your client has the money and there are suitable photos he would like to use, this is the way to go. Searching in Google for "stock photos" will give you plenty of results on this. 2. Take your own photos - When budget is involve, usually the project will require you to take a relevant photos and use them as supporting images on the website. Having a mid-range camera should do the trick as images for website are all on low resolution. Seldom there is a chance for you to use an image more than 640 x 480 pixels. 3. Creating Graphics Images - A web design will always need custom-made graphics images. For example, icons for a Shoe section, button for submitting information. You will need some skills in creating the graphics of your needs, or you will feel stuck while designing. Consider looking for tutorials on creating certain effects, like rounded corners, Mac alike buttons, pattern backgrounds and more. Learn about vector graphics tool like Adobe Illustrator and Macromedia Fireworks. They can help you to create graphics, mockups and layout fast and efficiently. This will greatly aid in your next web design project.
INSPIRATION AND REFERENCES: If you already have some inspiration on how to design the layout, great, but if you do not, consider looking at related websites for some references on how they are being done. A search in Google also reveals some websites of the same genre. You can also check out ready-made templates as well. I am not teaching you to copy exactly, but as a new learner, you should take reference and see how they are being designed. www.sitecritic.net has alot of website reviews by different web designers all over the world and is worth taking a look. Why bother looking at them? Reference sites will give you ideas on usability, color theme, ideas on relevant images, navigation, features and many more guides to work on your web design project. Always consider them as useful references to help you whenever you need inspiration and ideas for your Web Design. It is all about looking more, reading more and getting your eyes and brain more exposed to the web design styles.

Design Your Website for Your Visitors Not for Search Engines by Patti Fousek
Design Your Website for Your Visitors Not for Search Engines by Patti Fousek, CreativeMind Search Marketing
Have you ever visited a website just to find yourself immediately going back to your search results? Maybe you couldn't figure out what the company does. Or... maybe you were referred to this company and just wanted to get specs on a certain product, but instead you find yourself clicking around their website aimlessly and could not find the information you were looking for. If this has happened to you, you've been victim of poor usability.
There is blog post by Eric Enge on Search Engine Watch titled "Usability and SEO, Which comes First." In his blog Eric stresses the usability and visitor experience are far more important than SEO. Although I am a professional SEO, I whole heartedly agree with Mr. Enge. I've managed many website redesign projects where the company president wants their website to reflect their sales brochure. However, website visitors are looking for more robust information than what a sales brochure can offer. And many web developers (well, the inexperienced ones) are so eager to please the client that they produce flashy websites with lack luster content. The result is high bounce rates and dismal website conversions.
While websites should always be optimized for search engines, what is more important is to clearly define the purpose of your website. As with anything, if you do not have a clear plan, you can not achieve success. The same holds true with websites. Once you determine the purpose of your site, then you need to determine what it is you want visitors to do when they get to your site and then make it easy for the visitor to do so.
I encourage you to read Eric's blog and pay special attention to the basic questions every website owner should ask before jumping head first into a website design project.

Affordable Search Engine Optimization Is The Key To Online Marketing by Andy West
Affordable Search Engine Optimization Is The Key To Online Marketing by Andy West
In this day and age, the Internet has quickly become the best and most efficient way to advertise your business's particular services. Affordable search engine optimization has quickly replaced standard advertising and is becoming more and more popular each and every day. The premise is actually quite simple. Almost everyone who uses search engines will automatically choose from the first few matches that they receive. Therefore, affordable search engine optimization is the perfect answer to increasing your online potential.
On any given topic, there could be upwards of thousands of websites. If your website doesn't even make the first ten listings in the search engines, then you will lose out on an incredible amount of business. Also, the average consumer will be more likely to trust a site that comes up among the first matches, rather than on the last page of the results. However, there are some companies that will charge you an arm and a leg for this type of service. Therefore, finding something in your price range is the answer.
There are many companies that offer this type of service but it is important to investigate their credentials before enlisting them to help your business. There are some companies that say that they are experts in the field of SEO but are in fact just looking to take some money out of your pocket, without ever increasing your standings on the search engines. A good way to avoid this is to find a company that seems credible and then ask them if you could get a reference from one of their past customers. This way, you will be able to find out first hand whether or not that company will be able to give you the proper SEO service that you deserve.
A professional SEO company will not only drive traffic to your website, but will work alongside of you to ensure that the traffic that comes to your site will be interested in your particular service. There is not much point to having people looking at your site if they have no use for your services. This is another reason to get a qualified professional to help. Proper SEO will drive qualified customers to your website. Customers that are specifically searching for your particular service and who are looking for it at this very moment.
Imagine the possibilities. Whenever anyone online is searching for your service, they are immediately matched up with your company's web site. Once they get to your site, they will realize that you have absolutely everything that they could possibly need. So why would they search any further? Affordable search engine optimization is the single most effective way to drive more qualified traffic to your site and works better than any other method. This is perhaps the only way to increase your businesses online potential and it doesn't even have to cost you a lot of money. Don't be fooled into thinking that companies that charge a higher rate will give you better SEO service. After careful research and investigating, it is very easy to find a company that will give you proper affordable search engine optimization that will benefit your business for years to come.
With the Internet becoming bigger and bigger each day, you cannot even afford to not take advantage of SEO. The amount of business that you will receive from this simple process will astound you and the profits will amaze you. Before attempting any other online marketing processes, keep in mind that affordable search engine optimization is your first and final answer.

Acquiring Quality Logos - Logo Design Guru by Jehanzaib Hassan
Quality logos are the foundation of marketing and promotional techniques for business. Among the characteristics associated with high quality logo design are uncluttered images and text, and minimal colors. The McDonald's logo, "Golden Arches", is a great example of an uncluttered logo that is simple, effective and widely recognized. Size is another characteristic which underlines the quality of a logo. Big or small, a quality logo has a matching background and distinct texture. The logo is included on all promotional material including business letterhead, presentation boxes, billboards and brochures.
The major aim in any business is success. A good quality logo portrays the company's image to a multitude of customers and helps in gaining success for a business. The logo should mean excellence, quality, value and authenticity in the minds of customers. A logo designed by professional designers can maximize the success of the business and give a company an edge over the competition. The logo is a company's backbone so it is worth the cost paid to professional designers.
There are numerous logo design professionals that offer their services online and a good design can be completed in a matter of days at relatively low price. Online logo design companies can provide quality logos that best match the company's style and vision. Aside from being involved in the development of some of the best websites, these companies give the option of selecting from a maximum of 5 quality logos so that the owner chooses the one that best fits the business' image. Logos play an effective role in steering a business on the path to success.
When acquiring logos from various online and offline logo designing companies, always ensure that your logo is supported by protection rights so other companies are prevented from illegally using your logo.

6 Free Ways To Make Money Online by Andrew Jones
6 Free Ways To Make Money Online by Andrew Jones
Regardless of whether you are operating an online or offline business, it's important that you reduce your costs, thereby increasing your profits. Although advertising is an investment in your business and not an expense (if done correctly), you should be on the lookout for free methods of marketing, and free ways to make money online.
Once the sales start to roll in, you can then invest some of your profits into paid methods of advertising. But let's focus on some of the free methods for now.
1. Article marketing is probably the most effective free way to make money online (and my favourite). Writing articles does take up a lot of time, but I feel that there's nothing more satisfying than creating quality content that can help people solve a problem.
Once you submit your article to the article directories, you will begin to get targeted traffic from people that are interested in what you have to say. Web masters and ezine publishers will also pick up your article to use on their site or in their newsletter, which will give you even greater free exposure. Don't forget to research keywords and place them in your article. This will enable your article to rank well in the search engines (more free traffic).
2. Blogging is also an excellent way to drive free traffic to your web site. You can set up a blog for free, add regular content, link to your main site, and promote affiliate products. Make sure that you "ping" your blog every time you add content. This will alert the blog directories that you have made a new post, which will bring in the traffic. The search engines love blogs because of the fresh, regular content. So if you are consistent with this method, you will be getting picked up by the search engines more and more.
3. SEO (search engine optimization) is simply the on-page and off-page optimization of a web site. You optimize the content on your site by placing well-researched keyword phrases that target the right audience. With off-page strategies, the idea is to get tons of back-links to your site (from article submitting and a linking campaign) so that you rank well in the search engines. If you can get on page 1 of the search results for your keywords, you will get massive amounts of free traffic.
4. Forum participation gives you the opportunity to ask questions, learn, and also to help other people. If you have a link to your web site in your signature file, not only does this give you back-links to your site, but it also allows people to click through to your site. Make sure that you contribute useful information, rather than blatant advertising.
5. Linking is a campaign of creating links pointing back to your site. One-way links are much better than reciprocal links in terms of ranking with the search engines. So apart from submitting articles with your link in it, you can submit your URL to link directories either manually or with submitter services or software. Or you can approach high-traffic web sites that are related to your niche and ask if they will link to you. The benefit to them is that they have useful content and links to offer their customers. So it's win-win for both of your businesses.
6. Traffic Exchange sites allow you to surf members' web sites in exchange for advertising credits. These credits give you views or visitors to your site. The best use of traffic exchanges is to promote your own compelling lead-capture page to get opt-in subscribers. If your page is short and attention-grabbing, you will get more people signing up to your offer, rather than losing them with a long sales page. Once you build your list, you can follow up until you make the sale, and then consolidate that with back-end sales.
Free ways to make money online usually involve more time and effort. But if you work these methods on a consistent basis, the long term results are often better than the paid methods. And you'll also increase your bottom-line profits by reducing your advertising costs.
